Jessica provides personalized English lessons tailored to each student's unique needs and goals.

Conversational English

I am passionate about helping people achieve fluency because I went through the same struggle in Spanish. At a certain point in my Spanish language journey I had advanced knowledge but still didn’t know how to get to the fluent stage. For me, it took moving to a new country to become fluent, but I believe that people shouldn’t have to do that. For this reason, I’ve been perfecting my method of helping people achieve their goal of advancing to fluent English. I have some techniques I use that have been proven to work, and I’d love to share those with you! Some of those techniques include but are not limited to:

-Interactive practice with the most common English sayings
-Introducing topics that are more intricate so that you can fully express yourself
-Sharing cultural knowledge, like when English speakers say one thing but mean another
-Showing you the most native ways to phrase your sentences and speak

Business English

I myself have learned Business English through my sales and marketing past experience, and have a passion to help you reach your occupational goals through English!

Native Phrases: In my Business English classes, I teach the most useful language and phrases to use in the workplace. I understand that you already know how to do your job, so my goal is to give you the language capacity to do it in English with ease. Because of this I introduce native phrases that you will see many times in the workplace like ‘to be on the same page’ and ‘to get down to business’.

Realistic Practice: I then bring these phrases into realistic practice of situations you would encounter, like leading a meeting or introducing yourself. That way, when you get into the workplace and come to the point where you start speaking English, it is like second nature for you.

Cultural Awarenesses: I also understand that the English language is particular with how they phrase things in the office to be polite. Therefore, I teach all the scenarios where English speakers say one thing and mean another so that you can understand what your workmates are communicating to you and so that you can use it yourself!

My Teaching Method

Personalized

I want the class to be focused on what is most useful for you. With everyone I work with, I have a conversation with them beforehand and fully understand what they hope to achieve through English to then know what to prioritize.

Interactive

I understand the reason to learn a language is to be able to use it. Because of this, I speak as little as possible and get you to speak as much as possible. I give you as much practice using the language as possible.

Research-Based

Too often, I see people learn new words but then not keep that knowledge with them. Because of that, my classes have a lot of repetition and review to ensure the information you learn stays with you and helps you grow your language skills

Learning Tips

Interact with the language: You should be using English everyday, but start off small. Even if you study 5 minutes everyday, those 5 minutes will do something.

Make your learning fun: If you use fun activities, like flashcard games or reading in English, you’ll be more likely to stay motivated!

Study in spaced intervals: A research-proven way to memorize information is to look over what you learned the day of, one day later, one week later, and one month later.

Be confident: Be proud of how far you’ve come already! Learning languages should be fun because native English-speakers want to hear you and understand you.
